MBA application strategy

After you have finished selecting business schools, the penultimate task before writing your application is creating an MBA application strategy.

BE YOURSELF

Once you have narrowed the selection of business schools according to the selection criteria, you will have three to five MBA programs that you would seriously like to attend. MBA admission committees are looking to find the right candidates for their program. The traits and outline of the right candidate may vary tremendously from what you think it is they want. There is no need to shape your personal and professional experience and goals to what you anticipate the school to seek. By displaying your true nature, your unique individual goals, you will enhance your admission chances.

DISPLAY BREADTH OF CHARACTER

The variety of subjects covered in your application essays enables the application to convey as much character as possible. Do not repeat the mantra of "I am the right applicant"; "your school is the one for me". Try to limit yourself to cover one or two areas in each essay, and refrain from repeating subjects, as the reviewer will read all of your essays within a period of approximately 20 minutes. Exploit the essays to depict a wide-angle image of yourself to the admissions committee, portraying as many shades as possible. The best black-and-white images are those that have the widest spectrum of grays.
